Boettke Profiled in WSJ

Don't miss today's Wall Street Journal Europe profile of the leading Austrian economist Peter J. Boettke : "An Old Economic Theory Finds Converts in a New Age," by Kelly Evans. I  had occasion to work with Boettke a couple years ago, in his capacity as editor of The Review of Austrian Economics, and found him to be extremely rigorous.

Update: I see that this profile ran in the weekend edition of the WSJ under the headline " Spreading Hayek, Spurning Keynes ." The two headlines makes an interesting contrast. Hayek (1899-1992) was half a generation younger than Keynes (1883-1946). Moreover, Hayek's economic theories really began to come into their own (began to be spread) after certain problems developed in the economics of Keynes (which led to a degree of spurning). On both counts, therefore, the weekend's headline is far more accurate, for it represents Austrians as spurning the old and spreading the new. The headline in the European edition, by contrast, apparent invokes the trite notion that Capitalist Economics = Old Economics. If they had to cover the Resurrection, I suppose they would write: Dead Prophet Finds New Converts.
